But after Nickelodeon’s confirmation, netizens celebrated and soon enough, “Spongebob Gay” was trending worldwide. This isn’t the first time SpongeBob SquarePants sexuality was discussed.

Spongebob was confirmed asexual by the creator.
The tweet, however, may have hinted towards popular Nickelodeon character SpongeBob SquarePants being gay. Popular kids network Nickelodeon is celebrating Pride month and put out a tweet to commemorate the occasion.
